2021-09-07 Jeju Gotjawal

I took a brief stroll through the local Gotjawal in the afternoon, and about 5 minutes in I heard the familiar call of a Black Paradise Flycatcher (Terpsiphone atrocaudata). I did a bit of playback to see if I could bring it in, and shortly after this male flew in and perched nicely on a branch. This was the best opportunity I've had to photograph one since moving to Jeju earlier this year. I believe this one may be a juvenile, as the bill is a little greyish, and the tail feathers are quite short relative to breeding season males. A beautiful moment to observe this summer visitor.
